A quality polyurethane sun wheel is only useful if it is run correctly, so follow the standard setup and maintenance steps: clean the contact surface each shift and replace the wheel before wear becomes uneven. That cuts abnormal wear and prevents jams, scraping, and misalignment, and keeps the line running efficiently.
Before installation, confirm the sun wheel's model and specifications match the machine's spec plate. Inspect the polyurethane sun wheel body for cracks, dents, or deformation, and make sure the teeth are complete with no missing or broken ones.
Clean the sun wheel's mounting surface to remove oil, dust, and debris, and verify it's flat and smooth. A dirty or uneven surface hurts installation accuracy and transmission efficiency.
Grab the wrenches and screwdrivers you'll need and make sure they're in good shape before you start.
Line up the polyurethane sun wheel with the mounting position so the wheel body sits on the shaft or bracket centerline. For sun wheels with a keyway or splines, seat the keyway or splines fully into the matching grooves on the shaft.
Hold the sun wheel with bolts, nuts, or the dedicated clamps. Please tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern, one at a time. This will prevent any single bolt from bearing an excessive load, helping avoid the sun wheel warping or the body cracking.
Set the gap between the sun wheel and the other transmission parts, the planetary wheels and ring gear, to the value in the equipment spec. Too much or too little clearance makes the drive slack or bind, so fine-tune with shims or the adjustment bolts until the gap matches the manual.
